Butternut Squash Fries

Boy have I got something yummy for you today... Butternut squash fries are crazy good y'all! Have you ever tried sweet potato fries? Well, these little beauties are just like them - only better! The taste isn't quite as heavy as the sweet potato version, and they are WAY easier to cut! Butternut Squash Fries are a super simple and delicious accompaniment to most meals. Try them out yourself & let me know what you think...

 Printable Recipe
Ingredients:
  • Butternut Squash
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Salt

Method:

Prepare the squash by peeling the skin and cutting off both ends. Carefully cut the slender top from the bulbous bottom. (It will be slippery without the skin, so watch out.)

Cut the bottom section in half, top to bottom, and scrape out the circular area of seeds with a spoon. Now cut the remaining pulp into strips for fries. (I always place the cut pieces into a bowl of water until I'm ready to fry them, to keep them from browning - though I'm not sure if it's completely necessary.)

All of the seeds are contained in the bottom section, so you can simply cut the top section into fries and place them into the water too. (see note above)

Shake off the excess water, and deep fry in oil - just as you would any other french fry, until they are golden brown.

Remove to paper towels to drain, and sprinkle with salt to taste.

Enjoy!
